Chef John grew up in Boston surrounded by a large extended Italian family. His culinary journey began early—selling pizza in the 6th grade until the school district shut him down due to dwindling interest in the cafeteria lunch program.
After college, John opened an Italian pasta store called Pasta Etc., which grew into a small chain of three locations. He later expanded into fine dining with the Berkeley Grille, a restaurant that fused classic Italian traditions with cutting-edge cuisine. It was during this time that John began sharing his love of food by teaching cooking classes.
As his restaurant group grew and family life became busier, John decided to shift his focus. He sold the restaurants and launched a catering company along with a TV show called Grill Seekers, where he combined his passions for Boston sports, cooking, catering, and tailgating. Over the course of 27 years, John built a career that spanned cooking, catering, teaching, and television.
In 2013, Chef John and his family relocated to Texas for his wife’s career. He brought with him a touch of his Boston accent and a tremendous passion for great food. While he misses his friends and family back East, he has embraced Texas, its tacos, and the new opportunities it has offered. As he often says, “I spent my first 47 years in Boston, then I got here as fast as I could!”
Today, Chef John offers catering, cooking classes, and interactive dinners in venues and private homes—bringing all the fun of dining out at the Chef’s Table right into his clients’ kitchens.
