Make French Macaron with an Italian Pastry Chef

Description

Be transported to the patisseries of Paris with this classic French Macaron class!

Don your chef aprons, grab your whisks and lets get baking! In this fun and interactive class, you will learn the fine art to making these mouthwatering morsels that are easy enough to be done in your own kitchen! The classic 'Gerbert' or 'Paris Macaron' is a French meringue-based almond sandwich cookie. The celebrated original tea shop Ladurée on the Champs-Elysees in Paris is given credit for the invention of the classic French-style filled macaroon. However the cookies themselves are thought to have actually originated in Italy during the Renaissance. Their name comes from the Italian word “maccherone” meaning fine dough.

Together with our classically trained Pastry Chef Instructor, we will demystify the making of these highly sought-after meringue-based sandwich cookies. Our Pastry Chef Instructor will take you through a detailed demonstration, before you will be guided step-by-step in replicating the process of meringue mixing, otherwise known as 'macaronage', piping, baking, assembling and of course, eating! We will also explore a few flavour profiles and filling variations to make your macarons really stand out from the rest!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you do not already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who is happier observing and assisting (or taste testing). Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Outside drinks are not allowed and will be available to purchase at our venue's partner's bar.

The experience was great. He was very detailed about the instructions, helped out whenever anyone struggled, and the results were amazing! I never thought making macarons would be so easy. My girlfriend and I had a fun time and we're inspired to bake more macarons

This was my mother's day gift from my daughter. Marco was AWESOME! So nice and helpful. Not pretentious at all. I was not in a great mood when I walked in as a result of being near the airport and all of the craziness with the traffic, Marco had a Full House. There were 13 participants if I did the math right. Thank goodnessfor him. After I sat down and we started, I felt a calmness and by half time, I'm to call it, when we had our break, I felt great. He was an excellent teacher. I learned a lot and my macaroons tasted great. The students as well were a pleasure to be sharing this new adventure with. Everybody was so nice and polite. There was no tension among anyone there, which was such a relief for a change. I will be taking more classes with him if I can find some as was the consensus of the other participants as well. Everyone loved him. I give Marco a 10 + . Thank you Marco for a good day. You knocked it out of the park. Or the airport....
