Orecchiette Pasta with Pesto

Description

The origins of Orecchiette pasta are a bit of a mystery.  It is thought that the shape of the pasta was inspired by the trulli, which are traditional stone houses with conical roofs found in Puglia.  The name "orecchiette" means "little ears," and the pasta is indeed shaped like a small ear.

Join us for our new hands-on pasta making class with Chef Tommaso.  You will learn how to make Orecchiette pasta from scratch, with a fresh pesto sauce using mortars and pestles to make everything by hand.  This recipe is so satisfying to eat and even more fun to make!  As an added bonus, your instructor is providing a delicious homemade Panna Cotta dessert for you to enjoy at the end of your meal.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class.  Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Drinks are available for purchase from the venue and are NOT included in the ticket price. Outside drinks are not allowed. 21+ only.

After moving back to NYC, Tommaso opened PROPRIO COSI, a company that will serve “on the go” organic food, with ingredients from local farms and businesses. He’s also the producer of the literary podcast FICTIONZ, a bimonthly series of premium narrative podcasts based on award-winning short stories and novels.
