Learn how to make steamed chicken wonton dumplings with homemade chili crisp and smashed cucumber salad in this hands-on cooking class with Chef Vic.
Get hands-on with the techniques behind these flavorful dumplings as you prepare a savory pork filling with cabbage, ginger, garlic, and scallions. You’ll also build your knife skills while learning how to properly prep the fresh ingredients. Chef will guide you through several different wonton folding techniques before you steam your dumplings to perfection.
What You’ll Make:
Each guest will prepare a flavorful pork wonton filling with cabbage, ginger, garlic, and scallions, then learn a few different ways to fold wontons using premade wrappers. While the wontons steam, you’ll make homemade chili crisp with gochugaru, garlic, Sichuan peppercorn, sesame, spices, and crispy shallots. The aromatic oil is prepared with a hot-oil pour by the chef for safety, so there’s no frying required during class.
To complete the meal, you’ll also prepare a smashed cucumber salad with vinegar, sesame, and aromatics. Along the way, you’ll practice additional knife skills and learn techniques you can easily recreate at home.
No experience is required!
We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
